The single track along Heartbreak Ridge is an endless downhill. Following a long ridge that begins high atop the Blue Ridge Escarpment outside of the city of Ridgecrest, this trail plunges nearly 2000 ft. in just over four miles. This is a high speed experience with very fast straight sections on a narrow trail lined with Laurel and Rhododendron. There are some rocky sections with shallow drops, roots, and steep slopes off the sides. This route is a one-way, but can be made into a loop using Old US 70.
